Use of Tramadol

Working mechanism               

Pain is a sensation that our brain receives through the nerves. To treat our pain, basically, painkillers block or change the ways of pain sensation. Tramadol is a very effective pain. To offer us relief from pain, it changes the ways of pain sensation in both body and brain. Tramadol HCL is the active ingredient of this painkiller. To treat our pain, it stops the reabsorption of serotonin and norepinephrine. To stop the effects of pain sensation on the spinal cord, this painkiller activates the opiate receptors in the central nervous system. Thus, it changes the ways of perceiving pain and then we can get temporary relief from pain.

Why is Tramadol considered as a schedule IV drug and what are the risks of using it?

The Drug Enforcement Administration is an organization of the USA which classified the drugs and the medicinal substances and includes in five schedules. The chronology of these schedules depends on the risk of abuse of the drug. For example, the drugs of schedule I have the highest potential of abuse and the drugs of schedule V have the lowest potential for abuse. Tramadol is included in the schedule IV as it has the potential of abuse. So, it should be taken with prescription only.

Tramadol is a narcotic drug which is very effective in treating pain. But, it has some risks of using also. It has some side effects which are seen in other drugs also. But, the risks of this painkiller are its potential for abuse, addiction, and dependency.  Tramadol shows the effect of pain by working on the neurotransmitters. Abusers of Tramadol to feel that excitement as Tramadol can also make one hyperactive. Tramadol shows the effect on pain as soon as it absorbs into the blood. So, to get sharper and quicker effect, Tramadol abusers take it in the form of powder or liquid. They inhale the powder or inject the liquid into the body. Though it can give the feeling of excitement at the initial stage, later it can harm your both body and brain. The abuse or overuse of Tramadol can make one commit suicide. Depression, insomnia, seizure etc. are the common effects of abuse of Tramadol. Never use Tramadol for the long time period. It can make you a drug dependent. You may feel an unusual craving for the drug.
